It's the easiest way to get a noticed. Put a celebrity's name in a film's title.
Didn't Ram Gopal Varma do it in Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon ?
Now it's Ramu's turn to be at the receiving end.
A young filmmaker Adeep Singh is making a film called Mujhe Ramuji Se Milna Hai.
It's about an actor from Delhi's National School Of Drama (played by the talented Prroshant Naryannan) who desires one meeting with Ram Gopal Varma for a break in Bollywood.
The film will also star Naveen Prabhakar and John's co-star from Goal and Kaal Kushal Punjabi.
But do these wannabes get to meet Ramuji?
"No," asserts a source close to the exiled filmmaker. "Ram Gopal Varma is a metaphor in Mujhe Ramuji Se Milna Hai for star aspirations. Just like Madhuri Dixit in the film named after her.
He doesn't have to be physically seen in the film. Besides Ramu isn't the least keen on facing the camera. He isn't one of those directors like Subhash Ghai and Farhan Akhtar who are closet actors."
Ramu after Aag and Darling has chosen to remain entirely low-profile until the release of his Bachchan opus Sarkar Raj in April-May.
But sometime back when we were discussing the wannabes who crowd him Ramu had confessed, "It's very interesting to observe these new actors.
At any given time at least 20-30 of them wait outside my office hoping to catch my attention when I arrive or leave. There're actors who message me regularly every morning, just saying goodmorning or how-are-you.
Recently things got a little scary for me when they started crowding outside my home and even chased my car when I left. All these hopefuls think I just have to look at them and their life is made."
Right. Manoj Bajpai, Randeep Hooda, Antara Mali, Priyanka (Nisha) Kothari and Aftab Shivdasani are still waiting for their lives to be made.
